Retractable Oven Door

Oven Elite announced the availability of its new oven, Door-a-Way, that offers a "retractable oven door". The oven door opens up in the conventional way, but once all the way down, it can be pushed into the oven.

The advantage to this is that you don't have to worry about burning yourself on the over door, as you reach into the oven to pull out your casserole dish.

Door-a-way comes as a fully-working oven, that is, they don't just sell oven doors only. But they have all the usual features, self-cleaning, convection, broil, porcelain interiors, etc.

They are currently only available in the United States.

nothing new about this, our 30+ year old Simpson double oven has this. Just trying to find any company that makes them new these days.

Yes We agree, our house was built in 1987, and our Simpson Oven(Australia) has marvellous inward sliding oven door. Makes for easier access and as the door is also removable, easy to clean.
Simpson is now stopped manufacturing Stove in Aust, and it is so annoying that the Septic Tanks now claim to have invented this feature in 2005.

It may not be new but they need to exspand to the free standing stoves. IT sure would help me being in a wheelchair, not only is it hard to remove things from the oven its dangereous.with this slide-away I could get right up to the oven whithout being burnt or dropping it.
