BagButton

BagButtonBagButton is a reusable cap for turning plain plastic trash bags into vacuum sealed storage bags.

Larry Storey, the inventor of BagButton, wanted to vacuum pack their clothes to keep them dry and mold-free from the moist air in their Washington home. They saw ads for the "Space Bags" on television, but didn't like having to buy specially made bags.

So they experimented with the plastic lid from a used five-gallon water bottle, their vacuum cleaner, and regular plastic bags. Several modifications later, they came up with the BagButton, and received a patent for it.

The way it works is this: First, you put all your stuff into a plastic trash bag. Then pull the opening of the trash bag through the BagButton. The BagButton then acts as an interface to a vacuum cleaner or hand pump. Once you have all the air sucked out of the bag, you snap the lid to the BagButton, and then tie off the bag below it. Now you can remove the BagButton, and use it on another bag.
