Glow-in-the-Dark Ant Farm

Antwork IlluminatorI never had an ant farm when I was a kid, but if they had the Antwork Illuninator back then, I would've begged my mom to buy one!

It's basically an ant farm with cool blue lights on the bottom that illuminates the whole thing. If you're in one of those "weird moods", you turn off all the lights in your room, fire up the illuminator, and trip out watching all the ants.

What might be even more interesting is a way to make the ants glow in the dark themselves.

They've done it with fish, http://www.glofish.com, but they at least have an environmental application there. I'm not sure what "added value" we would get from glowing ants. :)

I've seen this in person - it's very cool. The ants are very busy and I think they enjoy the glowing lights. :-)

If you fancy glow-in-the-dark creatures, you need a scorpion farm. Different species glow different colours under u-v light.
