The ZoomBox is the newest entry from Hasbro's Tiger Electronics Division. For all intents and purposes, it's really just a video game projector, that can project video games on a wall or ceiling up to 60" wide.
any details on the specs of Zoombox(projection technology, brightness, contrast)?

I heard the resolution was extremely low such as QVGA and the brightness was around 100 lumens. I also heard the color reproduction was not so good

We managed to get one on sale for $200, it was easy to setup. You do need a dark room, our basement family room works great. The resolution is below VGA specs, so expect some pixelation when sitting closer to the image.
After some initial adjustment we were able to get a satisfactory bright picture with good color. I would buy a cheap set of external speakers with subwoofer to enhance the sound. Overall my kids give it 2 thumbs up! I am considering buying a cheap projection screen for it.

Hi, does anyone know how much this zoombox weighs? And how much the replacement bulbs are? The order form at Hasbro says $2.00... Do you think that is the right price? More3 expensive projector bulbs are hundreds of dollars..
Thanks
Mike

I bought this zoom box during the 05 holiday season because I never owned a projector before but always wanted one.
You need to first adjust the lense on the front because the picture is very blurry. You need total darkness and you will still see alot of pixelation no matter what cause the res is so low. I have it setup on an 84 inch pull down screen sort of as a tryout for when I buy a real projector, this is a toy but it is still worth the price if you want the lowest of low end projectors for a decent price

We received a zoom box for xmas. It is great, but we find that some movies like Harry Potter are too dark to see well. Is there a way to increase the lumens? Can I buy a brighter bulb without hurting the projector?
By , at 1/22/2007 08:33:00 AM
"Is there a way to increase the lumens?"
Yes. I checked the manual but couldn't find the actual menu item but while tinkering I found somewhere in the settings there is an option to basically double the brightness which shortens the life of the bulb by half. 250 hours instead of the 500 as listed on the box/manual.
"Can I buy a brighter bulb without hurting the projector?"
I can't find detailed specs on the bulb that came with the ZoomBox but it appears that any 35w 12v MR11 bulb will work. I found one (on eBay) made by GE with a 3500 hour life. gonna shop around tonight and see what I can find.
this knowledge stems from the fact that my bulb went out this morning
:(

beware obsolete now, can't get any parts now like the power supply
By , at 6/19/2007 10:19:00 PM
go to Hasbro web site, you can find replacement bulbs, both parts of power supply and manual.
By , at 9/16/2007 07:48:00 PM
can you hook a lap top up to the zoombox?
By , at 10/09/2007 06:57:00 PM
I am wondering if this could be used for powerpoint presentations from a laptop? If so, what kind of adapter is needed to run off laptop?
By , at 11/13/2007 09:09:00 AM
LAPTOPS AND ANY OTHER ELECTRONICS THAT CAN UTILIZE RCA CABLES CAN BE HOOKED UP TO THE ZOOMBOX OF CORSE THIS REQUIRES THE SPECIAL USB OR SVIDEO TO RCA CABLE.

is there anyway to still get replacement ac adapter parts? Hasbro says there out

Can someone please write me today. I am interested in hooking up my zoombox to my cable. My tv just went out so I need a cheaper alternative so I can watch grey's anatomy tonight! lol. Please tell me what I will need...I notice that there is no cable input for the zoombox does this mean i need a vcr or dvd or something to hook the cable into and then slide over to the zoombox? i don't know anything about cables.. so clear explanation would help so much!!! please write me happy7383@gmail.com
By , at 9/25/2008 07:46:00 AM
Easiest way to watch TV is to use a vcr or dvd player, use the RCA (red, white & yellow) output cables from the vcr/dvd and connect them to zoom box. Then just change from video to game

replacement power - I picked up a generic laptop power cable with 12v & 3.5a output that seems to be working fine...my zoom power supply just melted so had to find a quick replacement. Still looking for something with the 5000ma output.
