Pfizer Consumer Healthcare released a new product last month called "SudaCare Shower Soothers", described as "vaporizing shower tablets". It's a tablet you place on the floor of your shower, and it releases soothing eucalyptus, menthol & camphor vapors.
When I first saw these advertized I couldn't help but see those old black and white films showing just how the gas chambers work in Federal prisons...plop plop plop ssssssssss, nighty night!

Any bets on the first lausuit with these? Person puts one in the shower, hops in, steps on it, slips & breaks their neck. Instant lawsuit!

I actually used those!
I had some serious sinus congestion and it seemed like a good idea to me. The reality is that they are ok - I didn't notice any excessive heat from it - its kind of chalky so I don't think slipping on it is a big worry.
In the end it is marginally effective and somewhat expensive, so I doubt I would buy again. But if they cut the price by 60% I would get it for my next cold.

Like Product User I found very little relief, particularly compared to the transported woman on the tv commercial. I was also distracted watching the thing to make sure it didn't float down the drain before its time.
And speaking of commercials, suggested copy for the next one:
"It's like showering with a friend, and the friend is a cough drop."

A wonderful product! Lasted through a long shower and totally cleared my stuffy head.

My allergies were horrible and I needed instant relief. While I was waiting for my prescription to be filled, I seen these and thought, what the heck? I tried them and LOVED them. They really cleared up my sinuses and I felt 100% better. I've been recommending them to everyone!

I normally love eucalyptus, menthol & camphor - shoot, I sleep with Vicks on every night, so I figured this was right up my alley. However, once I got my shower stream pointed right, the smell of sani-flush (or porta-pot cleaner, couldn't distinguish the difference) came wafting up. Well, wafting wouldn't be the right word, maybe creeping is a better word. I was disappointed. I'm a sucker for stuff like this, and once again, was very disappointed.

I just tried it. Pfffft. Uneventful, unimpressed.
I was expecting a Vicks' VapoRub type of thing...strong aromatics without the goopy mess. I could barely smell it, and it's not because I'm so congested either, I can smell everything else ;)

I wish I would have read these comments before I spent $5 at Walmart for these. When I saw the commercials I thought "how cool!". But of course, the boyfriend was right! It's a waste of $$. I could bearly smell it. I was down on the bottom of the shower trying to breathe it in.

These are horrible. I tried them and was very disappointed. They smell like toilet bowl cleaner. They need to go back to the drawing board.

I used these and 6 hours later woke up covered in burning, itching red welts. It was horrible. To make a long story short, I missed a WEEK of work, had to drop a college class, and couldn't wear my wrists splint for 10 days (for Carpel Tunnel syndrome).

Beware. This is not to be ingested. It's tricky because they give you a free sample with Sudafed PE. If you have a cold you tend to think soother mean mouth. beware. the developers shuol dno thave placed samples in pill boxes. I have been sick for days.

This is to the one with the bet on the lawsuits, I agree. People look for anything. I used them also. I had pneumonia. I wasn't very congested in my sinuses though. It helped me clear the infection out of my lungs. I would buy those before paying for a hospital bill.

I have tried these. They generate a miasma similar to that which radiates from a swamp.

I've had a bad chest congestion/cough for 4 weeks now and I've tried everything. My doctor had me on 2 different meds and nothing worked. Last night I tried one of these and it really helped start to break everything up in my chest. For the first time in 4 whole weeks I really feel like I'm starting to get it all out and finally am feeling better!

okay was it just me or does this product suck, maybe it is i was expecting a sweet lovely shower when dun dun dun it turned into a cough drop inferno in my damn shower..some say they couldn't smell it i smelled it so much it filled my whole room with a icky cough drop smell maybe im allergic to these eye burners. because i soon couldn't breathe well and my top eye lids were burning you might as well stick a curling iron too my eyes..and i stepped on the tablet and it burned like hell..i know it warns you but i didn't know it was ganna nearly burn a whole through my foot..maybe its just me but that was the most unpleasant shower i have EVER experienced i rather been attacked by a monkey then have to go through that again

I tried these things, and they taste terrible! Stay away from them!
By , at 12/19/2007 12:29:00 PM
I tried these once and slept very well that night and I have used them ever since. I am coming down with another chest cold and I am on my way to the store to get more. They are soothing, but I use one just before going to bed.

These comments are sooooo funny. First of all, you don't eat them, you inhale the vapors they release in your warm/hot shower. I too thought these would be a great new product to try, but after reading these comments and laughing at some of them, I'm glad I didn't spend any money.

A friend gave me one of these to try. I took my shower last night, and maybe it was the steam that helped more than anything, but it really is like showering inside a cough drop. I didn't think it was overpowering or too mellow. It was just right.
Today I feel a little better, and I slept like a baby last night. It didn't cure me, but it didn't make me feel worse either.

Shower Soothers are Great! but, Walmart no longer carries them :(
They DO WORK. I got the ones with the Vanilla fragrance - one shower and your sinuses are UNPLUGGED!
By , at 12/01/2008 06:08:00 PM
Shower soothers are awesome. My husband & I both have allergy/sinus issues & nothing helps like a hot shower with a shower soother. You have to have the tablet directly under the hot water stream & you have to be standing where the fumes waft; the fumes won't fill your bathroom or anything like that, so if that's what you're expecting, you will be disapointed. But if you typically take hot showers to relieve your sinuses, this is perfect; you'll know how to use it.

you guys are just expecting too much from this product or any new product you try. These are great if you like the smell of menthol anf are just looking to take a nice shower with something to help a little with congestion you cant expect a shower tablet to cure you... and for you idiots who ate them and stepped on them thats your fault and doesnt make the product bad.

I am a nurse at a poison center. Just got a call from someone who mistakenly put tab in water and drank a few gulps. Thought it was a med to be ingested for her cold symptoms. (She is ok).
