You've heard of the phrase, "monkey on your back". Now there's "sea monkeys on your neck".
The Sea Monkey Friendship Locket is a locket containing enough water and space to hold two sea monkeys that can be worn around your neck.
You start by hatching the sea monkey eggs inside the included tank. Once hatched, give them some growth food, and then transfer them to the locket. Once transferred, they live for about 12 hours.

They are not real "sea monkeys" but actually brine shrimp eggs that you hatch. They are food for smaller sea life in the wild. People these days especially young kids are so unintelligent these days...such a pity for the 21st Century!

They have no central nervous system...so i doubt it matters wether they're dead or not, especially considering the abundance. Also, if any of you people saying that 'its cruel to shorten a sea monkeys' life span' had half a brain, you'd know that they were used as fisherman's bait before they were pets....So, in all reality, what the hell is the problem?
I admit that it probably would be cool to show off that you have sea monkeys, but why on earth would you want to kill them? Okay this is not cruel to the sea monkeys.
If they were in the sea, they wouldnt have the food that is provided by humans and would probably get squished or eaten in 2 seconds flat.
And as long as you put them back in a larger tank before 24 hours & keep them in the light [they dont like darkness] then your sorted, and the sea monkey[s] got to have a nice bit of light.
NOTE : no direct sunlight, magnifying glass and sun do not mix, as we all know, cos ya might just end up with frazzled monkey.

This is cruel but why would you want a ugly SHIMP in a watch. Also if these are pets think about this. Would you want a dog or cat in a locket. so just make sure you take the little guys out before 12 hrs. Like right after school or somthing.
The 12 hour time limit implies you should transfer them Back into their tank when the 12 hours are up, this isn't meant to kill them,

hi people, im 10 yrs old n in a couple of days for christmas im getting sea monkeys and i dont think its cruel at all to have sea monkeys, ok yes keeping 1 or 2 in a neclace for so long is cruel and by the way you dont leave them in there for ever u take them out and put them back in their tank after 1 or 2 hours. i know which 1 im getting and im getting a tank that comes with a key ring i can put 1 in and show my friends at skool.its not like when i get home im not going to put them back in their tank, of course am going to. well thats my opininon!! :)
Who is to say that is right or wrong. It depends on how you use the product. I have a sea monkey necklace and intend to use it in a manner that will not be harmful to any sea monkeys. I am against animal cruelty. Keeping one or two in a necklace designed for them is not going to kill them if it's used properly.

I agree it's not nice, but it doesn't DIE after 12 hours unless you leave it in there. it says on the instructions not to leave it in for longer. Sure, the box says they won't die if you put them back in 12 hours. It also says they'll live for 2 years. It's just a load of crap to earn money. And its not just being put into the locket, bracelet whatever it is, unless you're positive to fill the whole thing up, which in that case, they won't have any air, they'll be pushed around everytime you move. Being flung into a wall of a tiny little container, fun!

Comparing a sea monkey to a cat or a dog is just plain idiotic! Personally, I love putting sea monkeys in allllll my jewelry. I got necklaces and bracelets watches rings even earring and my belly button ring is the coolest. I get billions of comments (good ones of course) about my cool jewelry. It is cruel if you leave it in the locket for a long time, but it will still live if you put it back in its tank when you are done wearing the locket. For example, if you want to wear it to school, then you can but you should take it off as soon as you get home. Then the sea monkey will live. Happy?

Having a sea monkey is awesomee. Personally I would like to have my sea monkey in a locket or something. If you bring it to school or something it will be around 6hrs. Then you can put it in your tank and watch it with its friends/family. It is not cruel or evil. Well that's my opinion.

I just got sea monkeys,( brine shrimp) and a watch. I wanted to know how you can help them live. This is not animal cruelty. They die in eighteen hours, so put them in the aquarium after an hour. You can also feed them in the watch, but that is dirtier. DO NOT BUY THE LOCKET. You can if you dont mind animal cruelty, but the things being hit against your chest... To the people who think wearing a sea monkey as jewelery isn't cruel, then you must be pretty ignorant and lack empathy. Just because a sea-monkey is small, and doesn't have a lifespan as long as a dog or cat, and isn't able to communicate as verbally as most household animals doesn't make their life any less valuable. People are sick, since their not able to eat them, instead they try and sell them in little packets as a toy to get money. I'm sure there are people who know how to take care of them properly, but the majority of children who buy them, just like winning goldfish in the fair, just play with them for a while, grow bored, and then they die. In the eyes of so many, a living, procreating creature is nothing more than a toy, and that is really sad to see. Every life, whether it's as primitive as a sea-monkeys may seem, or as important as a human, is EQUAL. I L-O-V-E sea monkeys. I had a BUBBLE PENDANT necklace when I was in middle school, and I watch when I was in college for fun. There is NO HARM to sea monkeys when you transfer them to the watch, and you just have a "time limit" for when you need to put them back. I never killed a sea monkey. They live for years and years and its not because you put them in a necklace. You just put it back in the tank before 12 hours is up! You People panic over everything.
I'm hatching a new colony of sea monkeys tonight and I'm giving my nephews sea monkeys and watches to put their sea monkeys in for Christmas.

guys sea monkeys are sooooo cool! i had some when i was 7, but then my tank got a rare disease and died :( but now i got a set up for sea monkeys on sunday, and its tuesday right now! the monkeys are about 1 millimeter long so far, and i can't wait for them to grow so i can take them to school in one of those locket things:) guys, you CAN take them gently out of the locket and back into their tank! i remember doing this and as long as you put them back into their tank for 24 hours in lots of light (they dislike darkness), they are fine! you don't kill them that way! so, good luck to all of you who bought sea monkeys and await the miracle of life, you ROCK!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Because these fairy shrimp hate darkness, you can buy a teeny flashlight and some rechargeable batteries and keep your monkeys happy at night, and as an added bonus, they flock to light and you can see them easier!

It's not cruel, they have no nerve system, they are simple, basic organisms. In fact, brine shrimps! That's what they are! Little floaty tiny shrimps. But I DO see where you are going with this, they should educate children about the differences between real animal cruelty and keeping a couple of brine shrimp in a bit of plastic, because then how are they going to tell the difference between keeping a dog in a little cage and keeping a tiny tiny flappy fishy thing in plastic? this is one interesting place. everybody gets so worked up on these little creatures! :)) im so enjoying this! i do enjoy other people's misery
