Woodstock Water Buffalo Co., LLC has a line of yogurts and cheeses made from the milk of water buffalo.
The company says that water buffalo milk has advantages over cow and goat milk, in that it is higher in calcium, higher in protein, and lower in cholesterol. It's also rich in tocopherol (Vitamin E).
Their line of water buffalo yogurt is said to be a healthy, creamy treat made from farm fresh water buffalo milk, pure and natural Vermont ingredients and live probiotic cultures. Available in several flavors, including Vermont Maple, Vermont Cappuccino, Vermont Strawberry, among others.
Actually, cappuccino yogurt sounds kinda good, but water buffalo? ![]()

i know! it sounds so doubtful that this would be good, but i found it a little while ago and i love it. its a lot tastier (fattier ;) than other yogurts. try the chai flavor!
Well, here in the rural Philippines, we use water buffalo milk for our coffee...it's cheaper than imported sterlized milk from New Zealand...
It's sweeter than cows milk, and higher in fat content...
so it would make a great high fat yogurt...I'll have to try making some one of these days...
Anyone who has had pizza in Naples knows that they use Buffalo Mozzarella cheese. My wife buys it at Penn Mac in Pittsburgh. Nothing unusual about it. Italy has made this cheese for hundreds of years.
Buffalo milk Yogurt has a better taste than cow milk yogurt. I would not call it strange food but people who do not know variety of yogurt..
it is amazing. you can spread it on a bagel as a lighter that cream cheese but thicker than traditional yogurt. no wild taste, we were surprised. my children and i were singing veggie tales "everybody's got a water buffalo" song and previously that was about the extent of our experience with water buffalo.
I am not a yogurt eater but I was challenged to try this and...WOWIE! It is great! So rich and different from standard yogurts. I love it! I will travel to get it. Yummie!!!
I'm just eating my first (and certainly not my last) container of Vermont Maple. This product is unbelievably creamy and luscious. I like to try new things and this is a winner. It's very mild, not tangy at all. I give this a hearty thumbs up!
Buffalo milk does not contain casein, the component of cow milk that causes so many allergic and digestive problems for people. People who can't tolerate dairy products made from cow's milk can usually digest buffalo products easily.
Delicious and flavorful. Now instead of reaching for a bagel, I enjoy these delicious yogurts.
I decided to try this buffalo yogurt on a whim since I like trying new things and this stuff is awesome, like eating thick cream and has no offish taste like the goat yogurt I usually buy and eat, a little pricey to eat everyday at $1.99 for a small container but for sure great to have as a treat once or twice a week, I highly recommend it. I bought the plain since I am diabetic and it has no added sugars or sweetners.
I just purchased my first container of Woodstock Blueberry Water Buffalo yogurt and was surprised at how delicious it was. I'll have to wait and see if I have any digestive side effects, that's why I swore off traditional milk yogurt. If not, I'll have to look for cheese... I will definately introduce this to my kids and add it to our diet!
This product is simply terrific, especially if like me you cannot have any dairy made from cow. I've never seen it in cream form. Sure would be good to have it in cottage cheese form. Great alternative to goat dairy products which I can't stand!
I totally agree. I love it's thick creamy texture (especially after stirred/whipped). I found it at Perelandra health food store in Brooklyn and it's my favorite (even more than Greek). I now want to try Sheep's Milk Yogurt which Perelandra sells as well!!!

I am allergic to cane sugar and after reading all the labels in the store I found the water buffalo yogurt had either maple or honey to sweeten it. The yogurt is the best!! Thick and satisfying. Not runny like the goat milk yogurt I tried. Now I am disappointed as my store quit carrying the maple and honey and now carry the new smaller fruit flavors which have regular sugar in them! I was steamed. I have to find a new store!
It is awesome! The raspberry is my favorite, but I eat the blueberry and vanilla, too. It is very thick and creamy, and people annoy me when they automatically discount something because it sounds "weird." They're just missing out! :)
It's actually quite good and now they are out of business I have been told. It was the only yogurt my food allergic son could eat.
I can't believe they are out of business. Oh, no. Tell me it ain't so. I absolutely love this yogurt the best. Any one know of any other yogart made from water buffalo?
Hope they are not out of biz, because I eat it instead of ice cream. SO rich and thick and no side effects.
I have been reading some of the comments about water buffalo yogurt and I agree with all of you. It is the best. And it is true that they went out of business. Because I do work for them, but you will be happy to know that they are back in business under new ownership and going strong. There new web site is BUFALA Di VERMONT
I am from Bulgaria, and here for more than a thousand years water buffalo yogourt is made. I love it, as well as the animals - so slow and funny. Recently I tasted buffalo cheese/the Bulgarian cheese is like the Greek and Turkish - white, similar to Feta/ - it is also very nice!
