The Child Guard CS100 is billed as the first ever child safety device for firearms.
How is this new? Many US states have required childproof safety locks on all new guns sold for years!

What the USA needs is a new law about weapons... 'One house one weapon' is not a solution for anything...

I visited the Child Guard booth at the 2006 Shot Show last week and learned how good the CS-100 is vs. the competition. The CS-100 is the only unit to EXCEED the California AB 106 firearm lock standards and one of only two units to pass the Consumer Products Safety Council testing of 32 locks available on the market.
If you saw the competitive destructive testing that I saw, it would make you understand how the locks that are being sold today are promoting a false sense of securtiy.

Dear Anonymous -
No question about it, there ARE laws about safe gun storage in 21 states. The sad fact is that there is only one state - California
(Go figure!) that sets a standard for performance of child safety locks and firearms safety devices. In most states a little lock made of fragile, easily broken plastic is a "gun lock."
With no performance standards just about anything that locks could be considered a gun lock.
I saw these Child Guard locks at the SHOT show in Las Vegas and I was amazed at how intelligent the design was. I was amazed until I found out that one of the engineers had been a GUNNERY Sargent in the US Marine Corps.
Even though I have trained my kids never to touch my firearms I bought three of these safety devices for my own use at home. Now I know that my four children are safe.

Seems to me that you can shoot the revolver even with the lock. Just pull that lever behind the gun the maximium you can and release it. Am I wrong?

Most gun locks are not foolproof. That's why additional security is strongly advised. A device called the FIREARM ALARM is designed to store your gun and immediately alert you and your home alarm system, as well as scare the child away if accessed. Inquire at info@drspublishing.com

Uh, yeah..... you are wrong. That "lever" is called the hammer, and the only way to release the hammer is to pull the trigger. By the way, to pull the hammer back requires that the trigger move rearward, and that can't happen either with a trigger lock.

To me the Safety Bullet is a far better way to go. Most trigger locks have printed on them "not to be used on a loaded firearm!" So what good is it. The Safety Bullet works when the gun is loaded or unloaded. It stays hidden inside the gun. If an intruder or child pulls the trigger on the Safety Bullet it locks the gun up solid. But the best part is if you need your gun cycle the action and you have a loaded gun ck out their web site its a pretty amazing concept.

I find that the couple of hundred bucks I spent on a good hefty 400-lb gun safe works wonders for keeping little hands away from the weapons, and works on multiple guns at once! Not to mention important documents, cash stash, incriminating evidence.... ;)
It was expensive. It was a lot of trouble (due to size and weight). But it was both of those things only once. The consequences of NOT having the safe could well be permanent. Decision made.

Safety Bullets have a track record of failure. These things come apart and act like a projectile in their own way. Either that or they don't always leave the barrel of the pistol, causing a severe and extremely dangerous bore obstruction. I've heard that a few people that have had this happen to their guns have had to use a large hammer and metal rod to remove the plastic and aluminum obstruction. What agency has performed the independent testing on these things. Perhaps they need to be contacted about how dangerous these things are as well!

This is a very interesting device and seems to be somewhat effective as no one trigger lock can address all of the concerns associated with gun safety. However it didn't offer any protection against theft. I saw a very effective device called the "RAC" on line that addressed safety and theft concerns. You can find it at: theraconline.com
