Diamonds Made From Human Hair

human hair diamondsA company in Russia called New Age Diamonds is offering to make a cultured diamond using the hair on your head.

With a handful of your hair (approx 1 gram's worth), they combine it with carbon and run it through their HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) machine. The result is a real, actual, diamond, made from your DNA.

The thing is that they don't offer clear diamonds, only yellow, green, and red ones.

This company also does diamonds made from dog hair, and cremated ashes.

Cool i guess. anything is better than supporting wars over diamonds. watch Blood Diamond. it's sad. personally, i'd be happy with a simple gold band. call me crazy but i don't think it's the rock that counts.

Diamonds are crap. They're plentiful. Diamond company's make them valuable by hoarding them. That's what's disgusting, not these diamonds. If you need a real diamond to symbolize your love, you're probably shallow and materialistic. Also, good luck with your marriage, you're going to need it.

I've ben collecting pubic hair from every woman I've slept with for the last 12-15 years. I'm going to have me a diamond made, beautiful...

Can they use toenail clippings too? I have a mason jar full of them...

Having just lived through a situation where my son-in-laws dad took his own life, having been married to nothing less than a black widow being a second wife, offering my son-in-law the bullet casing which took his father then gave, all personal effects to her own family and then taking a holiday on Hamilton Island but had no money to help cover cost of funeral. This is a God send that he has a locket of his fathers hair, and however bizzare it may seem, this will be the ultimate gift he can keep his dad with him.

I think this is cool, people put so much value into diamonds and riches. Look you can make it from hair and we have lots of hair in the world. How about a man and woman / husband and wife, combine their hair together to make a diamond as a symbol of their unity together. Very sweet and from the heart!

its crazy, man! wonder how much my hair is worth??

I think that's wonderful!! The diamond-mining industry (DeBeers especially)is so unethical and terrible for the environment. It's rad that there is another option for people who want the stone without contributing to blood wars.

Besides, it's really romantic to be able to give an engagement ring, say, that has been made from part of you.

As for memorial diamonds, i think that's also lovely. Keep a gorgeous memento of those you love long after their bodies have gone!

Also, they are NOT cubic zirconia, they are made the EXACT same way diamonds are made in the earth -- their chemical make-up is identical -- the process is just sped up when made in the lab.

LOVE the idea!
