It's said the Handybar will do for geriatric motorists what the Garden Weasel did for geriatric gardeners.
It fits into that U-shaped thing-a-ma-bob mounted into the door frame of your car, providing you with a support handle to help you out and on to your feet. Sounds like a good idea, but I can forsee everyone shutting the door on the handle, and screwing up the door.
I mean, it sometimes takes 5 minutes for my mother-in-law to exit a vehicle, and in that much time, she can completely forget what she did 5 minutes ago.
The company says the Handybar also has a built in seat belt cutter, and can also be used smash car windows.

Don't take offense for your mother-in-law but I wonder if someone who needs 5 minutes to go out her car should... drive.
But this handle can be used also by passengers.
I agree. It looks like just another thing to run into while trying to get into your car at night. That would be especially hard on mother-in-laws.
OMG, I can't believe they're showing it on the driver's side. If you struggle that hard to get out, DON'T DRIVE. I don't need you on the road falling asleep and killing my kids. or mistaking the gas pedal for the brake pedal.
Oh great, one more thing I have to look out for when buying a vehicle. Torqued door strikes.
I think it is a wonderful idea. As the "young" generation gets older it is hard to "give up" things. This makes it easier to get in and out of a car as the "young" body is not so young. You stiffen up as you get older-not your reflexes or mind- this is an excellent way to HELP not to hinder you youngsters. Just remember, you too will get old and I hope you still feel the same as you get there. Again, I think this is a wonderful idea kudoos to whomever thought this one through!!!
My mother, who has MS, had used it since Christmas. It is fantastic for her and saves my poor aching back. It means both hands have somewhere to grab and that makes the person stable to pull themselves upwards.
