Training Toilet Paper

training toilet paperKimberly Clark is now offering a new type of toilet paper designed to train kids on how much toilet paper to use.

Cottonelle For Kids has doggie tracks printed on the toilet paper, and at roughly every five sheets is a cartoon drawing of a dog. Parents are instructed to teach their children to follow the tracks and then tear off at the dog.

Otherwise, the toilet paper is the same paper used in other Cottonelle products.

Thanks Tania.

On the other hand, Kimberly-Clark is one of the most environmentally destructive companies ever. Their paper products are responsible for a large % of clearcut and old growth forest destruction. So, if you want your kids to grow up with ancient forests and drinkable water, buy recycled toilet paper.

Bullshit. Nobody uses old-growth forest for toilet paper. That's like using mahogany for plywood.

I'll try to wipe with an aluminun can next time

personally, i think five squares is a bit much, especially for the bottom of a small child

"Nobody uses old-growth forest for toilet paper."

Old-growth is cut for size not quality of wood-- and here in the Pacific-Northwest old growth is mostly douglas-fir and western hemlock. Hemlock is largely used for paper-- everything from copy paper to kleenex to toilet paper.

buy recycled toilet paper? That doesn't sound so good!

But thanks for the info - I will be more careful when I buy paper products and will look to purchase from more environmentally friendly companies.

I guess their trying to do it the natural way, but if I wanted to do that then I would just use leaves.

"Recycled toilet paper" does sound odd, but remember it's not necessarily made from used toilet paper (it would be laborious to fish it out of toilet bowls, no? ;) ) - but rather from "post-consumer" product like used paper product packaging, cardboard, newspaper, etc. Back in Vermont, recycled toilet paper was all the rage.

Unless recycled toilet paper is as soft as my Charmin, it ain't happenin'.

I think the above idea is pretty good for little kids though.

Came upon an interest website that carries various other designs of printed toilet paper. www.justtoiletpaper.com

My favorite is Pucci toilet Paper, not sure if it is for the dog or the owner.

Who knows, might be barking up the wrong tree

DON'T BE SO IGNORANT AND BLIND!!!! Kimberly-Clark DOES use ancient forest trees for its toilet paper/tissue products. I got this directly from the Greenpeace web-site "In a ad in the National Edition of the New York Times newspaper, Greenpeace announced that more than 650 businesses in North America and from around the world are refusing to use tissue products manufactured by the Kimberly-Clark Corporation and made from ancient forests." The campaign is called "Kleercut"... you should read up about it and get educated!!! Ignoring it doesn't make it go away.

Using 5 squares is a whole lot better than the 52 squared my 3 year old tries to stuff down the toilet!

As soon as recycled toilet paper is printed with puppy dogs I'll buy it. LOL

Oh, come on. You can't possibly believe that Greenpeace is completely objective in their reporting.

The truth is that the trees used for board lengths and t.p. and all other products is intentionally planted and farmed for these uses.

If you're really concerned about the environment, stop peeing into your drinking water and start composting your excreta.
