An Automatic Garage Door Closer

by Steve
Thursday, July 20, 2006

Garage ButlerA new device called "GarageButler" will automatically close your garage door, should you leave it open.

It works in conjunction with your automatic garage door opener, and knows when the door is open or closed. You can set it to automatically close after 3, 10, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. It also has a siren that'll alert your nearest neighbors that you left the damn door open again.

To top if off, it has a light sensor that detects sunlight, and when that sunlight goes away, it closes the door.

It mounts to the wall with double-sided tape.

$59.95 from Wise Guy Advertising, Inc.

  • I disagree. I've been looking for this exact thing and will most likely buy it. We've left the garage door open all night before. My husband has a buttload of remote control cars and trucks in the garage.

  • Great idea but what if you are working in the garage or in the yard and the door closes on you. A home automation system will take care of the situation and is much more flexable.

  • I had this problem, forget'in to close my garage door in the summer, kids in and out......until I had about $2k worth of tools stolen one night. Heck, for the price of the "idiot alarm", I'll stake out your house till you forget to close the door and liberate a few of your valuables for ya. Believe me, you don't forget to poke your head out into the garage to check the door before go'in to bed after that happens.

  • Gadgets like this were created because there was apparently a need. Especially to protect us from people like Mr. "Can you say dumb idea?" because they look to protect their opportunitites to rob us blind. You can't affor not to buy something like this.

  • Or an alarm to alert thieves the door's open and no one's home
