Dwight Yoakam's Chicken Rings

Dwight Yoakam's Chicken RingsGeez! How many times can chicken be reinvented?

New from Peru, ID-based Modern Foods comes, "Dwight Yoakam's Chicken Lickins Chicken Rings", under the company's "Bakersfield Biscuits" brand.

I found this while going through the latest market intelligence reports that I subscribe to. I had no idea that chickens had rings! Hell, I didn't know they had fingers.

In fact, I didn't know the alternative-country crooner had his own line of fatty-foods, did you?. Just goes to show how out-of-touch I am with the times.

If you need to know how Dwight Yoakam got into the food business, here it is.

i think this comes from the new trend of "finger-food", where food is actually designed to be eaten simply using your fingers with no need of fork ect. it can be nice and useful during a party... but i prefer the traditional shape of chicken! maybe also because i'm itlaian and i love traditional cooking instead of fast-food. nice site, i just discoverd it reading the magazine JACK in Italy. i'm an independent desinger, now of jewerly.

I don't think this is a new idea. For some reason i think White Castle did something like this maybe 6 or 7 years ago. My sister used to get them all the time.

Of course chickens have rings. What do you think they lay eggs through?

Alternative-country? He is straight up twang country. Nothing alternative about it.

And agreed: the dude is "real" country, none of that "alt" stuff

White Castle's chicken sandwiches are all ring based.

I think these are just "Chicken and Cheese" without the cheese or the bun.

So many questions come to mind . . .

Like, what the heck is chicken rib meat?

Yes, White Castle does have these. We like to call them "Deep Fried Chicken Sphincters".

Most chickens only have one or two rings that I know of and they already have a specific purpose which does not neccesarily include eating...

White Castle has been selling these for years.

I remember Walsh Middle School (Framingham, MA) sold cups of Chicken rings and curly fries (either/or) in the cafeteria....

yup yup!
not only is this idea a remake, its an overrated remake.
Henderson county has had "chicken rings" for YEARS!

what gets me is the fact that they suck and everyone loves them...

chicken sphincters....
its a sick sick world...

Why would a vegetarian be pushing chicken? I spent 6 months of "country hell" on tour with him in 2001. Unless something has changed, his diet does not include meat.

They are pretty good actually. I bought them at Walgreen's. (OK, I was hungry!).
