Training Soap for Little Squids

by Steve
Wednesday, August 02, 2006

SquidSoapA new product called, "SquidSoap" is designed to teach kids good habits in washing their hands thoroughly.

When you push down on SquidSoap's dispenser, it shoots a small amount of black ink with the soap. You're supposed to keep washing your hands until you remove all the black ink. It takes about 15 to 20 seconds to get everything off.

The company that makes this, Squidsoap, LP, out of Wichita Falls, TX, claims it's also a toy, because the orange-colored squid tentacles that adorn the bottle is stretchable, providing kids with hours of fun.

Imagine, kids having fun with handsoap.

  • Actually that black ring on the top of the soap dispenser is supposed to stamp your hand with ink when you press down on it..

  • Now THAT is a great product. Hopefully I'll get my girls washing their hands more often... Or, just being able to tell when they're lying about it. :)

  • Someone just came out with a pre-brushing rinse for kids that turns their plaque blue, so they know to brush until it's gone. It's also supposed to make it fun, although I don't think there's anything fun about the container.

  • There's also a new mouthwash that attemps to do the same thing for brushing your teeth. It's called Agent Cool Blue from Listerene -- it sticks to food or plaque on the teeth and kids have to brush their teeth white.

The problem - now my kids brush about 10 times a day - can't wait until the novelty wears off!!

  • I've got a son. I showed him the vid on the site. We both agree that the soap was a good thing. We bought a 4pack on the spot. Thanks for the link strangenewproducts.com!

Or maybe John's kids, like mine, would repeatedly press the stamping ring to get lots of ink circles on their right hands, without necessarily catching the soap in their left hands.

  • He must have kids, 'cause he sure as hell doesn't have time for this blog.

  • I think this is great idea because my sons love to use it. And it really works. Thank you for making this!

  • You can also experiment with having kids rub their hands with a teeny bit of oil (olive in my home)and then sprinkle the hands with cinnamon. They wash until it is gone - a good scrubbing happens everytime. (We read this in Family Fun magazine)

We got that mouth rinse that turns blue - but have yet to use it, because I really don't want to hang out in the bathroom with the kids an extra 15 minutes every night :P

  • this is a great idea to start with very young kids, since they learn faster than kids 10 & up. it would be pointless to buy a lot until you know if it works for your kids. and who cares if 'john' has kids? i think he should do better or keep rude comments to himself.

  • That blue mouthwash thing reminds me of a certain dentist (actually orthodontist) visit. I was still in braces, and I wasn't brushing my teeth enough, so my orthodontist made swish this stuff that made my me teeth a blue/purple/black color where all of the plaque was, and then he had me brush my teeth until they were white again. Now I brush my teeth until they're squeaky clean.
