A company called Kidz-Med, Inc. has launched a new thermometer called, "Thermofocus", claiming it as the first thermometer to take accurate body temperature readings without touching the body.
that's a lie.
Chicco, bebe confort and other sell thermometers like "non touch" for years.
I have one of those since my daugther as born.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Works well. I had two sick children and I was able to take there temp. without waking them or having to clean a thermometer in between taking ones temp from the other. I have another "non-contact" but to be honest it didnt work as well. This one is point and go. That's it. I recommend it.

Completely aside of its supposed benefits or functionality, why is it shaped like Voltron's Blazing Sword?

Doctors say the only way to accurately take a baby's temperature is rectally. Don't waste your money on one of these.

Why so anal, no pun intended, about accurate temps? The kid is hot, yep, you got it, he's got a fever. Couple aspirins and call me in the morning.
